Plaid Skirt Two Ways

Summer plaids can be down right flirty and fun if worn with the right pieces. The idea is to keep it fuss free and a little unconventional. Pair your plaids with bright colors, bold accessories and ditch your traditional sandals for flat espadrilles or sneaks. I paired the adorable handkerchief hem skirt from Yesstyle.com with two different blazers. One is a more nautical look and the other a trendier version. Both looks can be worn for day or night and easily taken apart and worn many ways. Tip: avoid tight fits – plaids are meant to be casual and easy to wear even if it’s a dress or skirt.
Handkerchief Hem Plaid Skirt – $88 | Two Tone Camisole – $40 | Smart Blazer - $90 | Leather Platforms - $100 | Tote – $165
Handkerchief Hem Plaid Skirt - $88 | Cropped Blazer – $100 | Tee - $18 | Statement Necklace - $48 | Sam Edelman Allie Heels – $104 | Clutch – $155

Revlon BB Cream Review

I’m far from being a expert in applying makeup but I am a busy mom who has a few tricks up my sleeve. The key for me is to keep my makeup routine quick and easy, mostly because I’m up by 6:30 a.m. and out the door by 7 a.m. Below are my favorite six products that I apply in less than five minutes:
1. Loose powder foundation (it’s fool proof and keeps the oil to a minimum).
2. Bronzing powder. Besides using it on my cheeks I also dab it on my eyes in place of eyeshadow and even add a tad on my lips for a little tint.
3. Mascara. I use three coats but for me the key is to apply more towards the outer lashes and wiggle the brush inwards (it opens up the eye giving it a wide awake look).
4. A little bit of eyeliner on the upper and lower corners of the eyes.
5. White eye shadow applied to the corner of my eyes using a Q Tip for a brighter look.
6. Lip balm and lipgloss. I apply the lip balm all over and use the lipgloss only on the center of my lips (it gives the illusion of a fuller lips).
During the summer I take it down a notch and only use a basic SPF 30 moisturizer, mascara and lipgloss. I started using the loose powder foundation when I moved to Florida because it has a longer staying power against the humidity, but lately it’s been leaving my skin looking dull. Which is why I was so excited when I was offered the chance to review some of Revlon® new products like their new Photo Ready BB cream with SPF 30 and their super lustrous lipgloss and lipstick.
Revlon’s Photo Ready BB Cream offers a lot for the price: hydration like a moisturizer, a foundation like coverage, smooth like a primer and covers up flaws like a concealer (all while protecting your skin with SPF 30). My skin is acne prone but also gets dry if I don’t hydrate, so when I applied the bb cream the first thing I noticed was the creamy, soft texture and how easy it was to blend into my skin. I didn’t want to add too much of any other makeup products because I wanted to really see if it let me skin show through - which happily it did. The coverage was sheer and left a fresh face feel and look which is perfect for someone like me who likes to wear makeup but not look like I’m wearing it. Other observations include:
I wore the BB Cream all day running errands in a 90 degree/humid dyad it stood the test. It looked just as fresh from beginning to end (I just wish I could say the same about my hair!).
The lipgloss and lipstick shades are gorgeous! I don’t normally wear such bold shades but these weren’t harsh. The berry allure lipgloss (see below) was sheer and super shiny and the lipstick was overall very pretty and perfect for evenings.
Revlon has now gotten my beauty routine back on track and I’m officially hooked on the BB cream!
Revlon believes there is more than one way for women to be seen. Revlon’s heritage as a color authority and its suite of innovative products inspires women around the world to express themselves through beauty each and every day.

Stylish Cravings: Silk Shorts

I’ve never really been sold on the idea of wearing pajama like pieces out into the real world but just the other day I noticed another mom at my kids school wearing a striped pair of silk shorts, a bright button down and ballerina flats and I have to admit it – I loved it! I should have asked if I could take a picture but it was a bit hectic at the school. Her outfit was pure comfort but it definitely didn’t lack in style. Now I’m obsessing on finding the right style/fit for me. I’m trying to avoid the drawstring types because I think those create a pooch and God knows I already have one and don’t need to make it worse
I also don’t want them to be ultra short because I’d like to wear them with flats and heels. Below are some that I’m currently eyeing and what I would wear them with.
These sporty silk shorts are perfect to dress up or down. Pair with a bright tank top and metallic heels for night or a white tee and flip flops for day. Sporty Silk Shorts – $84 at Pacsun.com
Jacquard print silk shorts are classy and have an expensive look to them. Pair them with a chambray top or a loose fitting sweater for cooler weather. Jacquard Print Shorts – $59.90 at Zara.com
These dainty shorts would complent just about any top but I personally think a peplum top would compliment them nicely. Pink Dotted Short - $29.97 at Bluefly.com
These Tibi silk shorts are beautiful! For a casual work look swap out your office suit skirts and give these shorts a shot with a pair of pumps. Tibi Silk Shorts – $59 at Saksfifthsvenue.com

White Blazer Worn 3 Ways

I bought this white blazer from Tobi on a whim and I always find a different outfit to wear it with. This time I paired with my new pink skirt. I spotted this little pink skater skirt for only $5 and knew I wanted to wear it with my white blazer and a cropped top I bought at Ross a few months ago. I’ve been looking for a colored bottom to wear the crop top with for some time but because it’s a crop top I wanted something higher at the waist and this skirt is perfect! Check the three different ways I’ve worn my white blazer below.
What I’m Wearing:
White Blazer – $39 from Tobi.com (also seen here & here)
Cropped Top – $7.99 from Ross
Pink Skater Skirt $5 from Papaya
Caged Heels – $30 from a local boutique in Tampa
Clutch (also seen here) c/o meet mark

Summer outfits are for the most part laid back, casual and fuss free but that doesn’t mean you can’t inject a little glam into your look. In fact it’s pretty easy to sass it up by simply adding a little glitter or metallics in the way of shoes, accessories or even a clutch. Not only are the items below under $60, but Yeswalker still has its famous BOGO going on. Check out some of my fave’s below and what to wear them with.

Hollywood Style Icon Beach Inspiration
May 24, 2013 by admin
Filed under Fashion Tips & Finds
In this day and age magazine and online media publications constantly use stick thin women as their cover girls, yet just 50 years ago fabulous Hollywood superstars were gracing our magazine covers with womanly hips and curvy hourglass figures.
Each year many women panic over their body image especially when going on holiday so why not take a trip down memory lane to the days of Monroe, when being curvy was sexy and use our beach inspiration looks for your summer holiday this year to make you feel good.
Marilyn Monroe has to be the No1 icon of our time as she is known for her size 14/16 curvy figure; today not many women over a size 6 are referred to as being a pin up! Like many women, Marilyn’s weight fluctuated and when she was unhappy she ate more but to all men she was always a sex symbol no matter what her dress size was. Marilyn once made a statement which has become a memorable saying on the subject of weight: ““To all the girls that think you’re fat because you’re not a size zero, you’re the beautiful one, its society who’s ugly.”

Monroe was well known for her blonde curls and ruby red lips and no matter where she went she always looked sensational – even on the beach in her costume and revealing beach outfits!
If there is a holiday coming up in your schedule then try pairing a beautiful white costume and these ballet pumps from Lotus Shoes which are similar style and colour to Marilyn’s, and make sure to do your hair and make-up to give you that extra confidence boost!

You would often find Monroe wearing bathing suits rather than two pieces as not only were they fashionable at the time but they are extremely flattering for the stomach making them a very desirable essential to take away on holiday.

Marilyn always had the skill to pull of amazing accessories on the beach like this red two piece, skirt styled bikini (which is slimming on the thighs) and a summary yellow shawl which looks beautiful draped around the neck!

Here she is sporting another slimming bathing suit in a metallic green colour and yet again her hair and make-up is perfectly done for that added confident and sex appeal on the beach.

There is no better feeling than wearing heels as they create the illusion of slimmer and longer legs and Marilyn often wore heeled sandals or wedges to the beach to create this exact illusion.

Find a similar pair of heeled sandals to Marilyn from the selection of Lotus Sandals as these will make the perfect addition to any beach look!
