Shoes hot. Shorts cute. But when put together with a safari-like jacket it just doesn’t work for the everyday gal. Beyonce looks great, of course, but the outfit just seems too Hollywood. The shoes are a bit overpowering for the outfit and the shorts simply look out of place. So I went ahead and swapped Beyonce’s denim shorts for a denim pencil skirt and added shoes that were more understated. What do you think of Beyonce’s outfit?

I want to like Beyonce’s outfit, I really do. Unfortunately, the heels are way too high for the shorts and the vest is just too loud. To keep within her look but clean it up, the first thing I did was swap out the shorts for a pair of Bermuda’s. I also kept the top half of her outfit but chose a solid white tank and vest for a clean, light and airy look. Lastly, I added a bold necklace to play off the shoes from Chinese Laundry. If you like the shorter shorts I’ve included a pair for less in the widget and a pair of flip flops that would be look much better. Hope you like it!

Beyonce is the perfect example of what happens when you wear too many trendy items all at once – it’s way too hectic and even great pieces look bad. To tone down the outfit, I swapped the caged heels for a simpler pair of caged-styled platform’s. To give the outfit a softer look, I traded in the fitted tank for the slub twist knot tank. Maybe even add some diamonds to the outfit, if you’re looking for just a little more flash. Tasteful and subtle jewelry can be a great touch when applied properly. Hope you like it!
