In a post-genocide environment Willa Shalit spearheaded the Path to Peace project which developed an American market for Rwandan women’s crafts. The collection creates trade partnerships with artisans in recovering regions to bring the power of change to Africa and Indonesia.

In less than two years the project has achieved unparalleled success in bringing economic security to the women of Rwanda. Their are several items including bracelets ( O Bracelet and Sister bracelet), necklacesbaskets (which are the number one export out of Rwanda under the African Growth an Opportunity Act) and bowls.

Check out the entire Rwanda Path to Peace collection only at Macy’s!

Update: The winner of the Lammar Trench Coat  is Holla_itsBabs with the following comment:

Oh-la-la! Tres HOTT! Something a TV Director DIVA would wear in a freezing cold control room while directing a newscast next to her male counterparts-giving off an air of CONFIDENCE and STYLE, exuding POWER and QUIRK with ULTIMATE COOLNESS–Nevermind the 94 degree heat outside in sunny Tampa, Florida!(Faux Fur in all it’s GLORY included, of course!) HoLLa!!! WATCH OUT, BOYS!

Congratulations  Holla_itsBabs and a big thank you to all of you who participated!

Celebrity fashion mavens like Hayden Panetierre and Charlize Theron know how to keep out the winter chill in style: the classic trench coat!   And so can you -  for free!  Chicksdowntown.com is offering one lucky Fashiongrail reader a free  BB Dakota Brown Tan Lammar Trench Coat.   The classic trench gets an updated, urban attitude styled with a nod to the 1970’s.  Crisp tailoring in a “go-with-everything” neutral, the trench is accented with multiple buckled sleeve straps and its own matching belt.  The removeable shaggy faux fur collar adds the fittingly retro finish.

How to Play: Simply leave a comment on FashionGrail to the following question: Will you keep the faux fur on the trench or not?  Why?

One winner will be randomly chosen.  The contest will run from Monday, October 12  to Monday, October 19. U.S. residents only.  Have fun and good luck!

Isaac’s spring 2010 collection at the New York Fashion Week was exciting- lots of ruffles and petals, short little numbers and those hats! As only Isaac would do it! The little square clutches, and box purses definitely made the show reminiscent of the early –mid 1900’s (think 40’s -60’s), the occasional umbrella gave me the feeling that we were heading for a picnic in the rain! Bold lips and the Blazers were a common theme and are bound to be the in trend this fashion year. Catch the show here.

Key notes of the fashion show: Menswear inspired shoes, Bold Lips, Lavender, the occasional fringe, and just a little sparkle

I’m eagerly anticipating the release of his Ready to Wear Collection. Check out my ever growing Isaac Mizrahi wish list on Wishpot.
