Celebrity Redo: Jessica Alba

I usually love Jessica’s outfits, but this one just doesn’t do anything for  her.  The gray skirt paired with that purplish cardigan just makes her look washed out (particularly against her blonde hair, which is a tad too light in my opinion).  So, I swapped out the gray skirt for a vintage-looking tapestry pocket skirt and picked a cardigan with a darker shade.  What do you think of Jessica’s outfit (or hair for that matter)?

Celebrity Redo: Kate Bosworth

 Here’s the deal: It’s not that I don’t like Kate Bosworth’s look (it is kinda Bohemian cool), it’s just that the colors don’t do anything for her and it definitely would not be my first choice for Summer wear.  I can see someone wearing booties with a Summer dress, but Kate’s wearing a tee, vest, scarf and booties.  For the redo, I decided to swap out the gray tee for a white tank and instead of the booties I added a pair of woven platforms.  The pieces I chose will allow you to easily mix and match them with other  Summer essentials (like the tank with shorts or the vest with dresses).

Celebrity Redo: Kate Bosworth

I’m sure Kate Bosworth could wear a paper bag and still look gorgeous, but this particular outfit (although cute and quirky) seemed to beg for a little “oomph!”  First step: I decided to stay within the same color family, but switch it up by adding a white crew neck sweater over a black button down ( I LOVE THAT COMBO!).  Next: The bulky bag wasn’t working for me, so I replaced it with a clutch.  Lastly,  I found a gorgeous bow back skirt, which really adds a lot of character to the outfit.  When it came down to the shoes and footless tights, I just went with it simply because I liked it (but the ensemble would look just as good without them).  Don’t forget, every piece in this outfit can be broken down and worn with just about anything in your closet: The skirt could be worn with a cropped blazer to work; the sweater with a pair of jeans for a casual luncheon, or the black button-down with a pair of black slacks for a chic evening get-together.

Celebrity Copycat Deluxe: Katherine Heigl

Love Katherine Hiegl’s Spring chic look!  This is another one of those outfits that offers a ton of possibilities:  The cardigan can be worn over a dress for a more comfy look and even used to replace a jacket for the office.  The white shirt goes with everything (skirts, shorts or slacks).  I can totally see the boots paired with a denim skirt or a dress; and let’s not forget the adorable yellow bag – the perfect way  to add color to any outfit.  While the items alone are bit pricier, they offer such transferability to other pieces in your closet that I sincerely believe they are worth the investment and will, in the end, stretch your dollar by expanding your options.  See below for some examples.
